Bible Study Methods

Hey! So today we’re going to talk about Bible study methods.

There are a lot of them out there, and I think a lot of the time we overcomplicate our Bible study time. Bible reading and study is very important, but we shouldn’t overcomplicate it. Here is one common method that a lot of people use:

S: scripture (write out the Scripture you’re studying, or, if it’s pretty long, write the Scripture reference.)

O: observe (write something that stood out to you in the text, or that you observe.)

A: apply (how can you apply this scripture to your life?)

P: prayer (write a prayer asking God to help you apply this scripture to your life.)

There’s one method, and here’s another one:

Step 1: Pray

Step 2: Read the scripture

Step 3: Interpret this scripture in your own words

Step 4: Write how you can apply this scripture to your life

Step 5: Pray

No matter what method you use, or if you come up with your own, always begin and end your Bible study/reading time with prayer. Those are just two Bible study methods, but keep in mind that they’re not rules, feel free to alter them a bit.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” -Joshua 1:8, NIV
