Journaling Through Lent: Week 6

Hey!! Sorry I didn’t post on here last week -it was a pretty busy week, but now I’m back to it. This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and I wanted to write about that. In Mark 11:1-11, Jesus is riding in to Jerusalem on a donkey. People were praising Him, saying “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” The people were laying palm branches and cloaks on the road ahead of Him. They were honoring and praising Jesus. The attribute of Jesus I want to talk about today is that He sees you fully and knows everything about you because He created you! When He was riding into Jerusalem on the donkey with people surrounding Him, He saw each of their stories. He saw them fully just like He sees you fully. He knows everything about you and loves you -despite some bad things that may be lingering in your heart. Let’s add on to the truths of this series! Truth #5: Jesus sees you and knows you fully (Psalm 139:1-4, NIV) Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV) says: “You have searched me, LORD, and you know...

Journaling Through Lent: Week 4 (GUEST WRITER)

What comes to mind when you hear the word outcast? Do you think of that “weird person”, the one who no one likes? How about those cry-inducing animal shelter commercials about helpless abandoned puppies? Maybe you  feel like an outcast, and that you don’t belong anywhere.  Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines an outcast as:  ‘one that is cast out or refused acceptance (as by society).’ No doubt about it, in a society where “image is everything,” and it’s all about what you can bring to the table, there’s a whole lot of outcasts. But here’s the good news, my friends: Jesus didn’t just come for the people who have it all together. He came for the people that no one else would go near! Let’s look at some of the people he reached out to. 1. A Roman centurion (Matthew 8:5-13) Roman centurions were sort of the bad guys in ancient Israel. They were known for using their power as soldiers to abuse and hurt the Israelites. Jesus didn’t care. When this centurion came to him wit...

Journaling Through Lent: Week 3

Hey!! Welcome to Week 3 of our Lent series! Today we’re talking about Jesus’ patience, so let’s get into it.  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) Okay, so I have a question for you. Would you rather dump all your problems and worries onto someone who constantly interrupts, or onto someone who is patient and truly listens without any interruption? I think we would all agree to the second option. Why? Because we don’t feel like we have to say what we intended to say quickly before they interrupt us. We know that they’ll listen and either weep with us or rejoice with us, depending on the situation. This is who Jesus is. He listens carefully and guides you to make the right decisions. He knows everything, yes, but that doesn’t mean that He wouldn’t would want...
