Hey girl! Let’s talk about bedroom makeovers. My intent for this post is that it will (hopefully) inspire you, and give you some helpful tips!
I’ve wanted one of these rolling carts for a while now. You can put whatever you want on it like books, desk items, makeup and hair stuff, or anything!
Let’s start by a friend of mine answering a question!
What is your favorite spot in your room? What are some tips for decorating your room?
I absolutely love my desk space in my room. The big drawers and shelves help me to stay organized, and I love designing my whiteboard calendar with pastel colored expo markers each month. About a year ago, I got a velvet office chair that spins! I share a room, so it’s nice to have a space that’s mine! Homework, projects, or Bible study goes into this space… Most of the time it’s all three!
As far as decorating your room goes, I advise to keep it simple and do what works for you! Some people share rooms, some people have limited budgets, some don’t! There really isn’t one magic decorating tip that works for everyone.
I like to break bedroom makeovers into 4 practical steps:
1. Get rid of stuff
For this step, remove everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) from the area of your room that you’re starting with -let’s just say that you chose to start with your desk. Put all the things together in one area, then slowly go through the pile one item at a time. As you go through it, have three piles: keep, toss, and donate. Once you’ve gone through everything, then do with those piles accordingly! But don’t put your “keep items” back yet.
2. Clean
Take out your feather duster, cleaning spray, rag, and any other things you’d need to clean the space you chose to start with. Then, well, clean!
3. Organize
Now we take all your “keep items”, and organize them into the space you chose in the first step! When coming up with how you want to organize your items, try to make it different from what it was before (that way it looks like a whole new bedroom when you’re finished!). Also, don’t forget that baskets and bins are your bestie when it comes to organization. You can put things in them, organization being optional INSIDE the basket, and then from the outside, it looks very neat.
4. Decorate!
I hope the photos and inspo below help you with this part. I recommend the REDO YOUR ROOM book by Faithgirlz HERE as well. They have lots of DIY decorations in there! For this step, decorate your room to make it look like it’s YOUR room, not your bestie’s or your neighbor’s, but YOURS. Here’s a good tip too: You can write a Bible verse that you love in cool lettering on a special piece of paper, then frame and hang it, and you’ve got a DIY Bible verse poster.
Inspo time!
Here is a simple desk.
Okay! Inspo is inspiring, right?
I hope this post helped you with your bedroom makeover endeavors! Also, just remember that your earthly bedroom isn’t eternal, so don’t become too attached to it, remembering that Jesus prepared you a room in heaven! That’s something to get excited about!
Thanks for the Girl Chat!
