Hey everybody! I sort of forgot to plan and write my post earlier in the week, so I’m doing it this morning! A little Breakfast and Blogging!
Anyway…
Today we’re chatting about confidence in our Girl Chat series. For the final time in Girl Chat, since this is the last post of the series, let’s have my friend answer a question!
What are some tips for confidence?
I can’t claim to be an expert, but here are my tips:
1. Trust in God!
I know this sounds cliche, but confidence has to start with him! When we believe that He will always be with us, and that He has infinite power, why wouldn’t we be confident? Proverbs 3:26 (ESV) says, “For the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”
2. Don’t let Satan keep you from being confident in who God made you to be. I know a lot of teens struggle to be confident in who they are. This makes me sad, because the Bible says we were made with a purpose and God has always had a plan for the good things we were going to do! (Ephesians 2:10) So seriously, shut out the hate and don’t let satan steal your confidence!
3. Finally, surround yourself with good friends.
It’s a lot easier to be confident if you have a solid team that supports you!
Okay, so I’ve found a lot of different pieces of advice on confidence from various books, Bible studies, and other things of the sort, but I think the Bible is the best place to find advice, so let’s look there.
Confidence in prayer:
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” -Hebrews 4:16, NIV
Confidence in everything:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9, NIV
Confidence in everything:
“In this self-confident boasting I am not talking as the Lord would, but as a fool.” -2 Corinthians 11:17, NIV
So instead of being confident in yourself, be confident in your faith in God, who you are in Christ, and who God is.
“So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!” -Hebrews 10:35, NIV
Feel free to copy those into your journal!
Confidence will never stand if you place it in your outward appearance, so don’t! Place it in God and in your faith in Him. Then God will be your Rock and your Foundation that will always stand and that is firm.
Here is some advice from Sadie Robertson in her book Live Original:
“People who can be who they are, and accept themselves as they are, are some of the strongest, happiest people in the world.” -p. 11-12
“Living original means being a new kind of different and being confident that He made you in a really cool, unique way.” -p. XIII, in the Introduction of the book.
So I hope all of this helped you. I’ve had a great time with this Girl Chat series, and I really hope you loved reading it. God bless!
