Girl Chat: Journaling

Hey Girl! Today in Girl Chat we are talking about journaling. Let’s start with my friend answering a question!

What are your tips for journaling? What kinds of journals do you have?

Tips!

1. Do what works best for YOU. There is no such thing as a perfect journal. When I was younger, I really struggled with journaling because I thought I was doing it “wrong.” Now, I understand there is no wrong! Journal how YOU want to journal.

2. Be consistent. You might not feel like journaling every day, and that’s OK. However, if you write pretty consistently, you will be able to look back on what you’ve done! It’s a super satisfying feeling, trust me!

Personally, I have had a daily journal in the past. Here I just wrote about my day. However, this year, starting in January, I started a journal for my Bible study time, as well as a five year journal. A five year journal is a journal with 5 sections on each page. Each section is for a year: like 2025, 2026, and so on for five years. The first year, you fill out the first sections, the second year you fill out the second sections, and so on. By the fifth year, you have 5 YEARS of memories!

So yeah!

My Number 1 Tip for You About Journaling: Make it FUN!

Journaling SHOULD be fun. It shouldn’t just be something that you do because you know a lot of other people do it. Relating to my friend’s tips above, make it personal, and make it Y-O-U! Your journal will be more fun to you if it reflects your unique style and personality.

So how do you make it fun? I’m glad you asked…

Welcome To…

Miss Lily Jayne’s Journaling Workshop!

Most of MY journals look kind of like scrapbooks. That’s what makes it fun for me, because I love printing pics, putting them into my journal, and then surrounding them with washi tape and descriptions for the pictures. Kind of like this!

When journaling, feel free to go crazy with washi tape, stickers, gel pens, pics, and whatever else! Make it truly a reflection of you!

I know that sometimes we get writer’s block and don’t want to journal. When that happens, just grab one of the prompts below, and put your pen to paper, not caring whether it turns out great or not.

  • Write about your day so far
  • Write about an upcoming performance or recital or something like that
  • Write prayers to God
  • Gratitude lists/things you’re grateful for
  • About YOU! Your favorite meal, your name, what your fave pass-time is, etc.

There you have it! My tips on journaling. If you’re looking for a Bible note-taking journal, check out mine HERE! If you’re looking for a prayer journal, check out mine HERE! If you’re looking for just a fun journal, look HERE

Thanks for the Girl Chat! Let this verse below inspire you to be creative. If you’re ever looking for inspo, just look at the world God created.

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
-Psalm 8:3-4, NIV
