Welcome back (or welcome for the first time)! Today in our Back To School series, we’ll be talking about sports. Sports fashion, sports hairstyles, stretches for when you’re sore, and more!
Sporty Fashion
Sporty fashion -for me- looks like this:
- Black workout leggings with a blue or green slippery material tee
- Running shorts with one of the same tee as the above idea
- Spandex bike shorts with the same tee or a tank
Those are just some ideas!
Sporty Hair
You should definitely look up any of these that you haven’t heard of!
- Rope braid
- High ponytail split into two braids
- Ponytail braid
- Just a high ponytail
- Dutch or French braids
As you can see, I love braids! Also, here’s some inspo!
For volleyball, it’s mostly my shoulders that get sore, so I do this stretch: On your hands and knees, take one arm and cross it through and under your other arm, then sink deeper in the stretch. I believe it’s called Thread-the-Needle. You can look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about!
Here is my favorite stretching routine:
- Thread-the-Needle
- World’s Greatest Stretch
- Cobra
- Splits (Not that I can do them fully, but I’m getting there!)
- Downward Dog then peddle it out with your legs
You can also look up videos for stretching. You basically just stretch with the person on the screen. I use Peloton On Demand for stretching (and workouts too! Helps with conditioning for sports!). YouTube has some stretching videos too. Here is a Volleyball Workout from Pinterest (all photos on this particular post are from Pinterest), but this workout is good for conditioning no matter what sport you’re in!
Snacks to Keep in Your Gym Bag
Okay, so when I’m at a meet or practice I sometimes get pretty hungry. These are easy snacks to keep in your gym that are healthy, energizing snacks!
- Granola Energy Bites
- Granola Bars
- Fruit
- Fruit Snacks
- Water! Okay, water is filling, so this counts.
- Sometimes just a tiny container of dry cereal!
Those are just some ideas and some inspiration. I was going to say “Happy Sports”, but instead…God Bless and I’ll see you next Friday!
