Faith Glow Up: Week 1

Sometimes when I think about religion, I think about this: an old man on his knees, and a book in his hands with a plain black cover and the words “Holy Bible” written on the front in gold. Really specific, I know. But, that’s sometimes a rough idea of what others think about Christianity too. Now, I’m not saying that you have to have colorful highlighters, a pretty Bible, and a handmade prayer cross to be considered a strong Christian. That old man on his knees with a plain black Bible may have the strongest faith than anybody around him; not that it’s a competition. But I am saying that faith isn’t boring. We have the joy of Jesus and can express some of that joy through faith tools (highlighters, prayer journals, your Bible, etc.), if that’s something you’re into. Just know, as we’re going through this series, that I’m not saying the level of religious activity you do or how many fun faith things you have is how strong your faith is. It’s not about that stuff. Just keep that in mind.

So why am I doing this series? To remind people that faith isn’t boring. To help you spend more time with Jesus. To help you express your joy for Jesus in different ways. Let’s get into Week 1!

This week is about prayer boards. I recently made one, and the picture above is my picture of it. I think they’re great faith tools, fun to make, and fun to use. I don’t really need to give you a step by step of it, but here’s a good explanation: put two envelopes on your cork board -one for prayer requests and one for answered prayer-, then some other little pieces of inspiration, written out prayers, psalms, verses, etc. When you start to pray for something, write it on an index card, and write a prayer for it on the other side of the card. Pray over it, then put it in the envelope. Come back to the board every day or so, praying over one or two cards each time. When one of your prayers gets answered, move the card to the answered prayer envelope. And that’s a prayer board!

Today’s blog post was a bit shorter, I know. It’s just because I combined the series into and week one into a single post, so I had to make it flow together as best I could. I hope you enjoyed and that you are inspired to make a prayer board. God bless!
