Faith Reset

Sometimes we need the reminder of what life is all about: God. Here’s a compilation of verses to remind and reset. Keeping a heaven mindset is so important, and that’s what the Bible says to do.

The first one is one that I relate to and love as a writer:“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.” Psalm 45:1 (NIV). This Psalm uses the picture of a royal king’s traits, envisioning what Jesus’ coming would be like. This verse in particular is picturing a servant speaking to a good, earthly king. We can use it as a picture of us praying to our Divine King, Jesus. I hope that makes sense, but basically, it just means that when the Holy Spirit speaks through us and “stirs” our hearts, our tongue becomes one like a skillful writer’s pen. You can think of that like God’s pen writing what you’re saying when the Holy Spirit is in you.

These next verses I’m going to write about are basically a hype-up for our faith: “Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD amid the sounding of trumpets.” -Psalm 47:1-5 (NIV). Did you notice the different names used for God? “LORD Most High”, “awesome”, and “the great King”! This is a great Psalm for praising Him!

If you’re in a rut in your faith, this is a great verse: “Restore me to the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” -Psalm 51:12 (NIV)

If you need words to express your testimony or if God has answered your prayer: “Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!” -Psalm 66:16-20 (NIV)

Psalm 71 is a life motto, but I especially like these verses below, (14-18; NIV). I made them be a different font because I absolutely love them.

“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long -though I know not how to relate to them all. I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

Pray that. And mean it with all your heart. This is life’s mission. We are here to proclaim the Gospel to the next generation. Even when we are old and gray.

A while ago at our church, the pastor announced that a lady in her nineties was wondering if she could mentor anybody in the faith. He said that if anybody was interested to tell him and that he would tell the lady so it could happen. This lady didn’t know if she had any days left in her life; she didn’t even know if it would be her last day or not, but she didn’t care. She was still proclaiming the Gospel and mentoring younger women in the faith till the end of her life, even that close to the end. I haven’t heard any more about this lady; I don’t even know if she’s still here on earth; but I know that even if she didn’t get somebody to mentor, she at least inspired me. It is my mission to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth till the day I die. Even if it influences one person to come to the faith, all of it’s worth it. Because that’s one more person in heaven.
