Psalm 33

I was flipping through my Bible when I stopped on Psalm 33. I skimmed through it and really loved the words that it said. The theme of it, especially towards the end of the psalm, is about how “the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,” (verse 18). It says that the LORD’s eyes are on those who put their hope in His unfailing love. That He will deliver those people from death.

“But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.”

-Psalm 33:18-22 (NIV)

Are your eyes set on the LORD? Or are they distracted by the things of this world? Verses 20-21 of this Psalm say that we wait in hope for the LORD and that He is our help and our shield. Our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. When you rest in His presence, ask yourself these three questions:

1. Do you hope in the LORD as your help and as your shield?

2. Does your heart rejoice in Him?

3. Do you trust in His Holy name?
