The Candle in the Window
Written By: Margaret Hill McCarter
My Rating: 7 out of 10
My Description
Part of the Lamplighter Collection, this book is of a mailman telling some acquaintances about his favorite Christmas ever. It involves a school teacher who never seems to smile, a boy with a huge heart for others, and a blizzard that takes a miracle to survive. Tod, the mailman telling the story, gives a candle to each person on his delivery route hoping that they’ll put it in their window to give a little hope to those who need it. Later, Tod finds that he’s the one who needs to see that candle in the window. Can Tod’s simple gift give hope?
My Recommendation for Age Group: All ages
Fiction or Non-fiction? Fiction
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes! Especially in the Christmas season.
One thing I learned from this book: Hope can be found in things even as small as a candle in a window.
Definitely read this book if you haven’t before, it’s a quick read and a great Christmas book.
Merry Christmas!
