Hey! Today I’ll be writing about prayer. Talking to God is a key part of our relationship with Him, but sometimes we don’t know what to say to Him. I hope this post helps!
Tip #1: Get Helpful Supplies
There are a lot of things out there to help us pray. Of course, you can talk to God without these tools, but they’re great to use once a day or so. Some supplies I use are:
- Prayer Journal
- Prayer Box (it’s a little tin that has a tiny pen or pencil in it with a little notepad to write prayer requests in, praises to God, and more!)
- War Room or Prayer Closet (see War Room Post)
- Prayer Books (books full of prayers to read to God aloud or in your head)
- Prayer Cards (These are little cards with either prayer prompts or written prayers. Some even come packaged in a cute storage box!)
Tip #2 Memorize Prayers or Scriptures that will help you in Prayer (optional)
You can memorize the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) or the Serenity Prayer (below)!
The Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all
things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy
in this life and supremely happy
with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
Tip #3 Pray!
Now that you’ve equipped yourself with tools to help you, it’s time to pray! Here’s one method I really like (I didn’t make it up if you’re wondering)
Adoration (praise God)
Confession (confess your sins to God)
Thanksgiving (Thank God for a few things; I like to do ten)
Supplication (Ask Him for something such as a good nights rest or healing from a sickness)
Another way to pray is by reading Psalms to God aloud or in your head! Psalm 145, 146, and 100 are some of my faves.
I really hope that these tips helped you; so what are you waiting for? Get started! Our God deserves SO MUCH PRAISE, and we were literally made to worship Him! If you don’t know where to start, thank Him for that!
