Girl Chat: Bible Study!

Welcome to the first post of Girl Chat! Today, we’re talking about Bible Study. Taking time out of your day to spend with God is essential to being a Christian girl and growing in your faith. Today, we’ll chat about different ways to spend time with God, Bible study resources I suggest, and how to make time with God super fun!

First, let’s start with a friend of mine answering a question!

What does your daily time with God look like?

Currently, I am doing a plan called The Five Day Reading program (https://www.fivedaybiblereading.com), which is just like it sounds! I am reading the Bible in a year, five days in a week! This leaves room for other Bible studies on the other days or being able to catch up if I missed a day! My routine is to pray, read the chapters, journal about them, and then pray some more. This  approach is simple, but super easy to fit into a busy schedule!

Different Ways to Spend Time with God

  • Read a Psalm each day. You could start at the beginning of the book, and work through it all! You could do this for any book of the Bible, not just Psalms. One chapter a day!
  • Work through a whole devotional by doing one day at a time at the beginning or end of your day.
  • Find a Bible reading plan and do it! There are lots of plans out there.
  • Work through the Bible at your own pace. Start at the beginning, and keep track of how many chapters you’ve read of the book you’re in at the time on a separate piece of paper -you could even use that paper as your bookmark if you make it look cool!
  • Create a War Room (I posted about that a while ago. Here’s the link to read it)
  • Play hymns or worship songs to God on an instrument -and/or sing them!
  • Keep a prayer journal!
Those are just a few ideas, but it’s your faith. You can decide how you want to spend time in relationship with our Creator!

The link HERE. Okay, I did this devotional last year for LENT (2024), and it was so good! Not only was it pretty, but it had great truth in it delivered in a way that I loved. I also loved how it had lots of journaling involved too!

How to Make Time with God Super Fun

Our Creator is not boring, and His Word (the Bible) isn’t either. If you’re like me, then you like bright colors, cute highlighters, and a super cool Bible, while a Bible with a plain black cover and a simple yellow highlighter are SNOOZE-VILLE. And that’s not bad at all! Time spent with God can be a blast. Here’s how.

Use Cute Stuff for Time with God

Like I said, if you want time with God to be fun, one thing you can do is use cute highlighters, pens, sticky notes, and bookmarks. Even a cute Bible! You could even make cute Bible bookmarks if you want to.

Some great brands that have cute stuff you can use for time with God are The Daily Grace CoMr. Pen, and DaySpring. But there’s lots of other brands like that too!

Pray

Pray that God will give you a love for Him that never stops burning. Pray that He will open your eyes, guide your steps, and help you be intentional when spending time with Him. Also pray that He will make time with Him fun. There’s nothing out there that’s not worth praying about, and God wants to hear from you.

Have An Open Heart

When trying to make time with God fun, don’t lose sight of your purpose with that time. Our main goal when spending time with God shouldn’t be to get entertainment out of it. It should be to know Him more, to love Him more, and to obey Him more. He’s our Creator, so we should spend time with Him. So keep an open heart, and have the right motives. When you do, you’ll get so much more than you can imagine out of this. This time isn’t about us, it’s about God.

Thanks for the Girl Chat!

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers.” -Psalm 1:1-3
